Letter from the President

Karen Dillard, Alabama HFMA President

Dear HFMA Family,

Can you believe the holidays are upon us?  As I reflect on what we’ve accomplished thus far, I’m grateful to all of our members, volunteers, speakers, and sponsors.  We have already completed our 2 multi-day Institutes and have partnered with several professional organizations to bring additional value regarding our education platform.  In August, we had our inaugural joint meeting with AL HIMSS at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens.  In October, we joined ACHE, AL MGMA, and ALAHA for our 2nd Alabama Healthcare Summit.  Both have received positive feedback and were very well attended.  If you missed those great events, there is still plenty of opportunity to take advantage of the many upcoming education sessions for the remainder of the year.  Take a look at our education calendar posted on our Bama Chatter Blog!!

Your chapter leaders are also continuing to make progress with strategic planning.  You may recall in the last newsletter, I mentioned several areas the chapter would like to improve.  Membership, Innovation, Structure, and volunteerism were some of the key areas of focus.  We have gained many new members since June.  Through the end of November, Physicians and Nurses can join for $100!!  Our volunteer committees are starting to shape up nicely.  If you have not joined a committee yet, don’t miss out on a great opportunity to meet great people.  The new processes and technology we are investing in will make it easy to volunteer.  In regards to Innovation, there are so many things we are working on.  Keep an eye out for email notifications and the chapter website for several exciting announcements in the very near future.

As we continue to grow and build upon the amazing successes we’ve seen from our past presidents, it is vital that we continue to hear from you.  Some of you may have received a member satisfaction survey from HFMA National.  If you completed this survey, THANK YOU!  We use this information in strategic planning to assure that we are meeting your needs.  This is your chapter and we are honored to serve you.

I hope to see you at one the education meetings in the coming months and I hope that each of you are blessed during the upcoming holiday seasons.

Kindest Regards,

Karen
