1.       Tell us a little about your background, family and pets?

I have been in the Information Technology field for over 26 years and in Healthcare IT for 23 of those years.  I have a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and I started as a programmer directly out of college working for a Coal Software company.  After joining a hospital IT team as a Systems Analyst, I have never looked outside of healthcare for employment.  There is tremendous payback personally knowing that I have been a positive force in the evolution of technology in the Healthcare vertical.

I have been married for 25 years to my high school sweetheart, have 2 daughters ages 22 & 18, and 2 dogs.

2.       What is your favorite place to vacation and why?

My family loves to visit the beach areas for vacation.  We find the environment very relaxing.  Both daughters and myself all own Mustangs.  We have attended Mustang Week at Myrtle Beach SC every year for the past 4 years.

3.       What is your favorite thing about living in your current location?

We moved to Tuscaloosa, AL in the fall of 2015.  My family enjoys the college town experience.  I have found the citizens of Tuscaloosa and surrounding areas to be very friendly as well.  We enjoy the home Football games as much as we possibly can.  There are plenty of things to do in our spare time from shopping, athletic events, fairs, etc. that we have not had the opportunity to enjoy before moving to Tuscaloosa.

4.       What keeps you up at night in relation to current healthcare issues?

Cybersecurity and HIPAA Breach potentials.  It is a constant battle trying to be a step ahead of the ‘Bad Guys’.  I can put sophisticated technology in place to slow the forces down, but technology is only part of the battle.  The Social Engineering component still needs to be addressed.

5.       Tell us one thing we don’t know about you that you’re willing to share?

I love cars.  I have bought, restored, rebuilt, and modified many throughout my years.  I currently enjoy my Mustang GT and have begun the modification process.  I also lettered in Bowling in College as well.
